About me
Success (almost) without mistakes!
After more than 40 years of experience in the foundry industry, I do not only know that you are much more successful without mistakes, but also how to do it.
It all started at the end of the 1970s with my professional training as a materials tester in a stainless steel foundry, the Pose Marre Edelstahlwerk in Erkrath, and my subsequent studies in foundry technology at the University of Essen-Duisburg.
After graduating with a degree in engineering, I first went to Southeast Asia for four years, to Indonesia, to be precise, to the Politeknik Mekanik Swiss, located in the three million inhabitant metropolis of Bandung on Java. After gaining some experience there in the area of tension between application (practice) and teaching (theory), and also much that was instructive on the aspect of intercultural cooperation, I returned to Germany and spent most of the 1990s as a sales engineer with Siempelkamp in Krefeld. In addition to my sales activities, I have also been intensively involved in failure mode and effect analyses and have learned to appreciate the enormous advantages of the Vision Zero approach. This still shapes my way of working today: As little trial and error as possible, but rather working directly without errors (first time right). This brings hard-hitting economic advantages. Among other things, it requires a certain discipline to always observe the relevant parameters while atempting to do everything right the first time.
In 1999, I then took over the management of sales at Brechmann Guss in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock and, among other things, took care of the internationalisation of the business. After five years in East Westphalia, stations followed as Managing Director of the Siempelkamp Giesserei, as Interim Managing Director at Friedrich Wilhelms-Hütte GmbH and nine months as Senior Consultant at the Knight Wendling GmbH Consultants & Engineers.
In 2013, I then moved as COO (Technical Director) to the DIHAG Holding GmbH. Through my expertise and focus areas, I have, among other things, furthered internationalisation at DIAHG, carried out successful change management specifically in the context of "Vision Zero" programmes and promoted the exchange of technical experience in (company) networks.
After almost 8 years there, I am now drawn to self-employment. Business | Excellence | Solutions - that's what Ingenieurbüro-Mettler stands for. Here I offer a differentiated range of services to make foundries better than their competitors.
